Energy and Matter:
the Eternal Dichotomy

The symbols in this beautiful design of the Masonic emblem feature the carpenter's right angle square and the draftsman's compass for drawing circles, equal lengths and arcs, and constructing geometric forms. The grasping hands are the universal sign of brotherhood, law, and social order within a society. The letter "G" is often thought to represent God, but in reality master-masons say the letter means "geometry" -which is the science used by the Creator to fashion the universe. In Mexican-Maya-Andean cosmology the symbol that resembles the letter "G" denotes the Galaxy, our Milky Way galaxy which is the very heart and foundation of their cosmology. "G" might also mean Gravity which helps to set all things in order. The triangle is in the shape of the pyramid, itself a sign of the element of fire and the Sun which sees all things as represented by the eye in the middle of this pyramid. The rays are the warm light and energy of the Sun.

The Masonic pyramid with the all-seeing-eye radiates the heat and light of the Sun. This energy comes from the cyclical motion and the expansion and contraction movement of the universe which is transferred to our Milky Way galaxy from where it is conveyed to our Sun which translates it to our Earth and the planets of the solar system.

Light is an electro-magnetic wave which travels through a vacuum at a speed of about 186,000 miles per second (about 671 million mph). Light is slowed down by passing through a medium to almost 38 mph. Einstein seeks to equate energy with mass (a constituent of matter) in his famous formula E = mc squared. Ancient cosmology had already based the dichotomy of the universe upon cyclical unions and separations of light (energy) and matter (mass).

A traditional expression of a religious view of the balance and contention between spirit and matter comes from the New Testament of the Bible:

The Book of Revelation 7:14 says, “These are they which have come out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes and made them white in the Blood of the Lamb....For the Lamb, which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of water: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.” The Lamb was materialized in Blood (matter) and formed and shaped by the spirit (energy). But the Lamb was slain in atonement for our sins -that we might have life once again. This is a Great Mystery -that the Innocent Blood was to be slain in a cosmic ritual.

Cosmic Physics & Dichotomy

Everything in nature is split into a dichotomy of matter and spirit and opposites: night and day, woman and man, peace and war, negative and positive, low and high, cold and hot. This dualism pervades not only our Earth but the entire universe. Entities in dramatic and physical tension are the number one law of cosmic physics. A single cell splits into two and these cells split into a total of four basic principles: moist-hot-dry-cold. These four elementary natures produce the movement and dynamism of the cosmos in which cycles go through stages of moist-hot-dry-cold. Some cycles also move backward through these stages from cold-dry-hot-moist. Movement is generated because cold draws dryness which draws heat which draws moisture. This is dramatized in the phenomena of “backdraft” in which fire explodes by rushing in to consume oxygen (air or dryness).

Thus the cosmic system reflects all human understanding and logic. It unites humanity, religion, and science under one philosophy. The physics of this system explains all through love-hate, attraction-repulsion, and gravity-space. God is the universe. God is the whole which subdivides and unfolds itself ad infinitum –and thereby generates all things in perfect measure and structure. Therefore they have called Him the Divine Architect, the great mathematician and geometer.
