The Culture  of Astronomy

Advanced Science, Philosophy, and Worldview of the Ancient World

The Culture of Astronomy by Thomas Dietrich

Holy Numbers, Sacred Geometry, and ancient myth take on a new meaning when seen through the eyes of astronomy. The Culture of Astronomy examines mathematics, natural science, law, and religion as they developed from the mother of all the sciences which is astronomy.

This is an important work in philosophy which seeks to understand all things. But to understand all things -nothing can be excluded from the investigation. Concepts of God and social organization are historical factors within the study of humanity and cannot be dismissed, reshaped, or renamed. The Culture of Astronomy provides a simple and complete context for reexamining the world and our place within it.

We are connected to the Heavens. Our logic follows the pathways of astronomical cycles and the physics of the universe. The way we think and formulate our conclusions is derived from our observation of cosmic order and harmony. The cadence of our breathing, the palpitations of our hearts, the human menstrual and birth cycles all respond to the cycles of nature following the beat and music of the cosmos.

In The New View Over Atlantis John Michell writes (p.211), “A human society which is ordered and regulated on cosmic principle, demonstrably reflecting the order of nature and the heavens, is the only one which will attract and deserve general acceptance…the universe proceeds through the constant interaction between order and chaos.” Michell also holds that the systems of holy number and geometry was upheld by the ruling priests of Egypt and was responsible for the long endurance of their civilization.

Because astronomy is the first science it is unremarkable that almost every culture of the globe reports that their first rulers and patriarchs were astronomers -as is the case of Adam and Atlas, as well as the first gods of the Mexica-Maya-Andean traditions. Under the direction of astronomy all the sciences, agriculture, navigation, philosophy, history, social order, law, and religion blossomed which helped to make life more organized, predictable, and enjoyable by explaining the cycles of natural change, creation, as well as degeneration and decay.

Astronomy explains the dual-nature and dichotomy of the universe into day and night, light and darkness, spirit and matter. Astronomy explains the secrets behind the nature of Yin and Yang, Karma and fate. These discussions include the mysterious numbers in the Book of Revelation such as 666 and 144, as well as the prophetic cycles that lead to the Maya terminal date of 2012.

Because astronomy was the first science, it is a wonderful subject through which to examine human history and the origins of how we think and who we are. Our ancestors have examined the universe for hundreds of thousands of years. Their worldview has formed our worldview. Their philosophy and use of language remain as the roots of our culture.

The study of astronomy from its ancient origins provides the foundation of all human interests in science, philosophy, and religion. No matter how far one has travelled, or how many books one has read one can never experience the illumination of understanding that astronomy provides.

The Origin of Culture offers a candid review of the historical and mythical sources behind the Atlantis legend recorded by Plato. It investigates the lost world of the Sea Kings of the Atlantic Ocean who ruled from Scandinavia, Ireland, the British Isles, the Netherlands, Denmark, France, Brittany, Spain, Portugal, and who preceded the many Phoenician colonies in Cadiz and along the coastlands of the Kingdoms of Fez and Morocco. These Sea Kings were in contact with North and South America. They penetrated the Mediterranean in very ancient times and developed colonies on the Black Sea, Troy, Phoenicia, Crete, Malta, Egypt, Tyrrhenia, Italy, Corsica, Sardinia, North Africa, and Libya. The Origin of Culture is a resource of information covering folk traditions, art, and the Golden Mean proportions of the ancient Irish Crosses. Of special interest is an analysis of ancient maps and cartography, the Atlantic Prime Meridian, astronomy, and classical astrology from the Alexandrian science of Ptolemy.
