2012 Maya boundary date -beginning of the Age of Aquarius culture of astronomy
The conference of Maya Elders held in Antigua, Guatemala in 2011 affirmed that the 2012 date does not portend a catastrophic end of the world -but rather a possible spiritual awakening. There is some dispute about the actual start date of this cycle, and therefore the exact time of inception may be as distant as 2160 AD. The cycle is based upon one-fifth of the Maya Pleiades' Cycle of 26,000 years ( 26,000 / 5 = 5200 years) which is their approximation of the Cycle of the Precession of the Vernal Equinoxes, which is 25,920 years in Vedic astronomy.
The Cycle of the Precession of the Vernal Equinoxes around the zodiac is not a major changeover of cosmic epochs; yet the Avenue of Ram-headed sphinxes at Carnac in Egypt certainly proves that the priest-scientists of the Nile Valley ascribed some importance to the change-over from one zodiac sign to another. Indeed, Schwaller de Lubicz, who devoted his lifetime to fathoming the mystery of Egyptian symbolism, found definite periods of decline and degeneration in workmanship and science during the vernal time periods that corresponded with Cancer and Gemini which produced wet and cold climatic conditions.
We are living in the time when the minute-hand of the cosmic clock is pointed to Pisces (wet), while the hour-hand has recently entered Aries (hot). During the time of 2012-2160 AD, the hour-hand will remain in Aries while the minute-hand will move into Aquarius whose nature is cold. The combination of Aries (hot) and Aquarius (cold) strikes a balance, however food production will possibly be curtailed and global over-population will be checked. World governments should prepare for these eventualities by diminishing global supply lines and reinstituting self-sufficient communities which grow and create all the things necessary for their independent livelihood and survival.
Cosmic myth defines the history of the great eras of the Galactic Cycle. It is this myth and history which gives meaning to the regions of the zodiac. The Galactic myths of Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius will have a subtle influence upon our entry into the Vernal era of Aquarius. The myths and history of this period include Adam and Eve, Night and Ocean, and Atlas and Saturn. In general, the Thema Mundi of these periods is one of the advancement of astronomy and the natural sciences. The citizens of the world will enjoy a new appreciation for the sacred nature of our garden planet, but again will be thrown out of paradise and disabused of the fallacy that heaven can be created here on Earth.
